Preparation for a one-man show

It always seems that the canvasses pile up waiting for the right place to display them, or for the right theme to draw them from the shelf to the light of display. I have a one-man show coming up and I struggle sometimes to decide what to show. --How to put it together, how to hang it so it makes sense to a viewer. My last show was skyscapes--"The Skies have it"--a word play and the subject matter pretty well determined what would go in. This time, I am showing at a local gallery and the work is so different--portraits, landscapes, and even a still life. Mostly acrylic, but older work in oil and pastels my second love. Since many of them were exercises from a master teacher, they take on subject matter and involve techniques of great diversity. Not sure what can pull it together. I guess it is only the artist's mind that pulls it together--explains why these particular shadows or forms were interesting. IS there enough distinction in the vision for that alone to shape the collection. Maybe. I 'll let you know the dates. Come, and see.

Welcome to the Copper Heron Studio Blog

Welcome to the Copper Heron Blog! I am still renovating my studio but expect it to complete by October and am hoping to have a dedication ceremony in October. Hope you can come and help us celebrate! This space has been set aside for creating works of art, for teaching and learning, and for hospitality. I hope friends will be able to use it as a space to display their work and to share their ideas. Stop by when you can! The door is always "open".

Blessings of the Autumn months to you!
